• Compile all available information for review:
- Plans and specifications
- Blueprints, drawings, cut sheets, and photographs

• Determine estimating approach

• Develop a cost estimate at three phases of design submission

• Distribute assignments accordingly to the estimators by
Construction Specification Institute (CSI) divisions

• Final review and validation of drawings and estimate
Review drawings and estimate with Architect and Owner

Crawford remains, as do Avanti Architecture, FMRW and Barber & Hoffman Engineers, current in the knowledge of local trade practices, material prices, labor rates, equipment rates and market conditions that can affect both the cost and construction timelines. Knowledge of the clients expectations and standards, construction sequencing, labor agreements, productivity factors, current bidding climates, material availability, indirect costs, anticipated escalation and necessary contingencies are essential to produce accurate estimate.
